Two skincare quotations can show very different unit prices and still describe different products. One may include a decorated bottle and carton; another may cover bulk filling into a standard container. Before deciding which offer is better, make the scope comparable.

A useful request for quotation describes the finished product you want to receive, the quantity and the assumptions behind your budget. It should also identify what remains undecided.

Separate recurring costs from project costs

Recurring costs may include formula materials, filling, primary packaging, labels, cartons and assembly. Project costs may include development, sample work, artwork setup, tooling or agreed testing. Their treatment varies by supplier and project.

Ask for a clear explanation of what is included in the unit price, what is charged separately and what may change if the specification changes. Do not assume that a sample quotation is a final production quotation.

Prepare a specification before comparing prices

  • Product: serum, cream or another format, with the intended texture and cosmetic benefits.
  • Volume: the fill size of each finished unit.
  • Quantity: units per SKU and the number of formula or packaging variants.
  • Packaging: container, closure, decoration, label and carton requirements.
  • Market: destination country and the intended sales channel.
  • Commercial basis: currency, shipping assumptions and whether taxes or import costs are included.

If you are flexible, identify the non-negotiables and ask for an alternative specification. A simpler package may preserve the intended user experience while reducing the initial commitment.

Evaluate the total first-run commitment

A practical planning model is: finished-unit production cost multiplied by the order quantity, plus separate project charges, logistics and market-launch costs. Keep a reserve for work that has not yet been scoped. This is a planning framework, not an estimate of your project price.

A lower MOQ can reduce the amount tied up in inventory, but it does not automatically produce the lowest unit cost. Compare the money at risk and the information you expect to gain from the first run.

Why target budget helps the manufacturer

A budget range guides the discussion toward feasible formula and packaging combinations. State the currency and what the range is meant to cover. “USD per finished unit including bottle and carton” is more informative than “low cost.” If you have not set a budget, say so and ask which specification choices have the largest effect.

Do not work backward from a desired retail margin using manufacturing cost alone. Distribution fees, shipping, discounts, returns and marketing also affect the economics of selling a product.

Before accepting the quotation

Check the validity period, payment milestones, approved specification, quantity tolerance, delivery responsibilities and treatment of changes. Confirm whether any packaging must be purchased above the production quantity and who holds that inventory.

Request a project-specific quote

Galanovix supports MOQ from 500 units for eligible serum and cream projects. Final pricing depends on the confirmed formula and packaging. Select examples from our product collection and use the inquiry form to share your format, benefits, quantity, market and target budget. Our team can then discuss a quotation on a defined basis.
